Education Counsellor

Contract Type: Full-time, Permanent

Working Hours: Monday to Friday (9:30-18:00), Alternate Saturdays 9:30-13:30

Location: United Kingdom Education Centre (UKEC) Sdn Bhd, Unit 7B, Nadayu 28 Dagang, Jalan PJS 11/7, Bandar Sunway, 48250, Petaling Jaya, Selangor, Malaysia

Salary: RM 2,500 - RM 4,000 per month

Annual Holiday: 10 days


Overall Purpose of the Job:

United Kingdom Education Centre (UKEC) is a UK education counselling organisation with over 17 years of industry-leading professional experience.  Our mission is to provide international students with personalised education guidance and support before and throughout their enrolment at a university, college or school in the UK.  Our services range from university placement, guardianship services, student accommodation, English language training, career development workshops, internship opportunities, etc., providing comprehensive support to all international students.

As one of the leading education consultancy companies, UKEC is the official representative of 80 UK higher education institutions with country-wide operations in the UK and China; with offices across major UK cities such as London, Manchester, Edinburgh, Birmingham, Newcastle, Cardiff, and Preston; and in cities such as Chengdu, Beijing, Xi’an, Xiamen and Chongqing in China; and the latest addition of our Malaysia office in Bandar Sunway, Selangor.

This is a fantastic opportunity for an aspiring candidate to work within an organisation which is highly committed to providing the highest standards educational counselling service and customer care to all students.

We are looking for graduates based in the UK who will attend 4-6 weeks intense training in Manchester UK, before moving back to Malaysia to work on a full time basis. 

Key Responsibilities

The key tasks include but are not limited to:

  • Provide professional counselling services to prospective students seeking an international education.
  • Participate in education fairs and student recruitment events to promote education partners.
  • Assist students with preparing and proofreading application documents.
  • Maintain good communication with students, student’s representatives regarding student’s application status.
  • Liaise with universities and students to track student applications, arrange interview and field any general or specific enquiries as well as advocate on behalf of students.
  • Share responsibility of the recruitment of students and actively assist the team to achieve recruitment targets.
  • Demonstrate a willingness and interest to participate in our Customer Engagement Experience philosophy, and continually display passion around the principle outlined.


Person Specifications:

Required Knowledge, Skills and Experiences:

  • Must be fluent in English and Mandarin.
  • First degree in any subject.
  • A good team player.
  • Results driven and customer-focused.
  • Strong communication and customer-service skills.
  • Be able to demonstrate initiative to develop and improve counselling service and quality.
  • Be able to work under pressure.
  • Have permission to work legally in Malaysia.

Desired Knowledge, Skills, and Experiences:

  • Fresh graduates are encouraged to apply.
