University College Birmingham

 

UCB is a Government university focusing on the culinary arts, hospitality and tourism management, service related business and marketing, sport and beauty management. The majority of Masters degrees are awarded by the University of Birmingham, to whom UCB is accredited. The university's international reputation is reflected in the size of the UCB student community which numbers over 8,000 students, including over 1400 international students from 65 countries.

With origins dating back to the late 19th Century, today UCB comprises 3 campus buildings. UCB is an industry focused institution, with an emphasis on both the acquisition of knowledge as well as technical skill development. This is reflected in UCB’s extensive practical training facilities which rank amongst the best in the world. UCB offers first class study support, with an Academic Skills Centre and subject workshops.  It has its own English Language Centre, offering academic English classes and a free English language checking service.

UCB does not appear in any ranking tables on account of its unique offer in the UK, in that they provide both further education and higher education courses up to Masters degree level. Indeed, some 22% of the university's students study on courses below degree level. Nevertheless, a measure of the quality of their provision is reflected in the fact that the University of Birmingham award the vast majority of undergraduate and Masters degrees they offer, reflecting our status as being accredited by the University of Birmingham.
